One of the great traditions of art is the relationship of master to apprentice, in which an artist who has reached the point of mastery in his chosen art form takes on a younger apprentice.

The younger artist, in the process of assisting the more experienced artist, works with tools and materials and learns the techniques that the senior artist has acquired over years of study.

Eventually, the apprentice achieves his own level of mastery, and becomes an established and accomplished artist in his own right.

Occasional, artists who have reached this point will maintain their relationship with their mentor/teacher/friend, and continue their collaboration on a different level.

This is the case with sculptor Brad Vanneman who studied and worked with Charles Parks as his apprentice for 7 years, learning the traditional techniques of sculpture that have been passed down through generations of artists, before striking out on his own.

Brad is now an accomplished and well-known sculptor, but he continues to work with Charles Parks on new commissions and other projects.

Brad Vanneman maintains a studio in Delaware. You can see examples of Brad's work on his web site.
