Charles Parks - American Realist Sculptor, the Rodin of the Brandywine

Charles Parks is an award winning, nationally renowned sculptor, based in Wilmington, Delaware, and working in the American realist tradition exemplified by the Brandywine River school of artists. He is well-known for his monumental public sculpture of religious and historical figures.

Limited edition bronze sculptures of figures, children and animals are available from the studio.

Charles Parks, traditional figurative, public and monumental sculpture

Charles Parks has been recognized in Masters of American Sculpture as a prominent proponent of "Naturalism" in sculpture, and his representational steel and bronze sculptures of people and animals grace public spaces, art museums and private collections across the country and internationally.

His statue of Boy with Hawk greets visitors at the entrance to the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, PA. Several large scale liturgical sculptures can be seen across the country: Our Lady of Peace (1982) in Santa Clara, CA, Our Lady of the New Millennia (1999) in Chicago IL, and Our Lady Queen of Peace (2007) in Wilmington, DE are made of cast stainless steel and stand from 33 to 38 feet in height. "Vietnam" is a 9 foot high sculpture in Wilmington Delaware.

Charles Parks is famous for his sensitive and evocative sculptures in bronze of people in harmony with animals and nature. Many of the limited edition bronze sculptures available from the studio are of those subjects, as well as sculptures of dancers, musicians, craftsmen, children, individual animals and fantasy subjects.

Award honors event

An event to honor Charles and Inge Parks with a lifetime achievment award was held on January 27, 2008.

New web site launched.

The new site offers galleries of Charles Parks' public and monumental sculpture, as well as a selection of available limited edition bronzes from the studio.

The completely redesigned web site also features expanded information about the artist, his history and significance in the artistic landscape of Delaware and the Brandywine Valley.

In addition there will be news about changes and events at the studio, a more detailed look at the process of casting and completing his monumental public sculpture and more information for the press.

The Charles Parks Foundation

A foundation has been established to preserve Charles Parks' historic legacy in the artistic traditions of the Brandywine Valley.
